SHS MOTOR D SHAPE STEEL PINION CL5004
The pinion gear is attached to the motor and
is the part which meshes with the bevel gear
inside the gearbox. It transfers the rotation of
the motor to the gears, causing the gun to fire.
On the vast majority of motors there is already a
pinion gear included, though they vary in quality
substantially. Not only that but over time they can
damage and wear to a point where they are no
longer able to function, even if the motor is still perfect.
You don't need to write off the entire motor -
just change the pinion gear!
There are two types of pinion gear; O-type and D-type,
named after their shape when looking down on them.
The O-type is simply press-fit, whereas
the D-type uses a small grub screw for retention.
You replace like with like, so if your old gear has a
small screw in it, then you use the D-type.
It is recommended to change the pinion gear on an
old motor if installing new gears, as they will mesh better.
This is the D-Type pinion gear, and installation
couldn't be easier - simply remove the old gear,
place the new one on and replace the screw.
For best results we would recommend using
threadlock on the screw for added durability.
Take care when installing this as you could
end up bending the armature, rendering the
motor inoperable.
